About Thordis 

Thordis is currently living in Djibouti East Africa where she provides holistic treatment at Clinic Aden/ Heron. She is also pursuing a Ph.D in Natural Medicine at Quantum University.

My Methods

My Methods are designed to guide you on your journey to optimal health and vitality. Physical, mental, emotional or spiritual ailments or simply a deeper connection to yourself.


Integrated Counseling

I work with you on thought patterns that work against you and help you adopt new perspectives improving your well-being. Counseling includes lifestyle changes, addressing trauma, emotional conflicts, and identity crises to guide you toward balance and self-discovery. 

Nutrition

Nutrition plays a big role in a holistic approach. I support you in using nutrition to heal and improve your emotional and physical health. Relax, I do not believe in diets. My approach is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine, research, and my experience as a physical trainer. 

Lifestyle Change

Through observation, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, and counseling I identify patterns in your day-to-day life that affect your health; and support you in replacing damaging patterns with constructive ones. This includes habits you are not necessarily aware of, such as your posture, how you walk, eat, sleep, communicate, and hold your bag.  

Cupping

Cupping is sometimes called acupuncture without needles. Cups are applied to the skin along the meridians (energy pathways) of the body, creating suction that stimulates blood flow and energy. This method eases stiff muscles and enhances blood flow to targeted body parts. 

Acupuncture

Acupuncture was developed in China thousands of years ago and consists of inserting fine needles in points on energy pathways in your body called meridians. This manipulation of your energy is proven to address health problems including migraines, overall body pain, knee pain, back pain, menstruation problems, stress, chronic physical problems, and autoimmune diseases such as Rheumatoid, arthritis, Lupus, and MS.

Physical Exercise

I guide you through and teach you body weight exercises improving your strength, stamina, flexibility, and balance; in turn making you more aware of your body. Focus on the breath supports you and builds your lung capacity. The aim is also to build your mental/emotional courage and physical confidence. The exercises are for all levels and specifically tailored for you. 

Stress Release 

I guide you through movements, postures, breathing, and stretching triggering natural mechanisms that enable the body to release stress effortlessly. This is a very effective method for releasing stress, and trauma, relieving chronic pain, and addressing sleeping problems. 

Qigong

Qigong is an ancient healing system and part of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It combines coordinated body postures, movement, breath, and meditation. I teach you Qigong movements you can practice on your own. Qigong is easy to learn. This in combination with other treatments yields good results in dealing with both physical and mental health problems. 

Tai Chi

Tai Chi originated in China as a martial art. It combines slow coordinated movements, breath, and sharp focus. I describe it as an academic study for the whole being. While being more complex than Qigong, everyone can practice it. Tai chi promotes flexibility, balance, and cardiovascular health. It can prevent and even cure medical problems. Research has shown that Tai Chi is especially effective in addressing health conditions associated with age.  

Breathing Techniques 

When you are conscious and work with your breath, it can generate healing effects for your body and mind. There are many types of breathing techniques and I guide you to use the one that is best for you. I often use breathing techniques for clients with asthma, lung problems, or other respiratory symptoms. They can also be used to lower blood pressure and heart rate, reduce stress hormones in the blood, improve the immune system, and increase physical and mental energy. 

Meditation

Meditation is an essential ingredient in any treatment I give because all health problems have a connection or solution within the mind. Meditation contributes to homeostasis - a balance of mind and body. Meditation is not about sitting and doing nothing, it is about sensing, feeling, noticing, and observing on another level. Meditation is fun and my job as a therapist is to find the meditation that clicks and sticks with you.
